# Asset Discovery: Sorting and Customizing Search Results

## 00:00 — Sorting search results by relevance and name

- Converted you've added in search values, only utilized filters, or have no restrictions, asset results will populate below the search. You have two different ways that you are able to customize your search results listing. The first is the sorting order of your results. By default, results are sorted by Atlan's calculated relevance score, which gives a value to each result based upon certain criteria that matches the search to those assets. This includes giving a higher score to verified assets and exact name matches. You can update the sorting by clicking on the relevance option in the top right hand corner of the asset discovery page. \ A drop down will appear giving four additional sorting options.

Name allows for alphabetical sorting based upon the name of the asset. \ Updated on Atlan will update based upon the last update to the asset that occurred in Atlan. Star count allows you to sort by the total number of times an asset currently is starred by different users in your Atlan instance. Popularity allows you to sort based upon the popularity of an asset where applicable.

## 01:00 — Popularity sorting and customizing displayed metadata

Popularity is defined on the asset type based on its connection, such as for database connections. It is the total number of queries in the last 30 days in combination with the total number of unique users that have queried that asset. Whereas for BI type connections, it is a total number of views on the assets in the last 30 days. Popularity is only applicable to connections where they have the popularity available and will result in incorrect sorting if non applicable connections are included and sorted by this. The second way that you are able to customize your search results is by selecting what metadata should be included around them.

By clicking on the three dots to the right of the sorting options, you have the ability to update the display preferences of your results. These options include showing the description, terms associated with the assets, tags attached to the assets, and the connection name for the assets. Clicking on each of these updates your results immediately to show or remove your selection.
