Changing Ownership

[00:00] Two common use cases for automation through playbooks is updating the ownership of assets either when a user leaves the company or another group takes ownership over specific assets. This process is extremely easy, requiring just a few filters into single action. Clicking on the governance icon in left-hand navigation takes us to the governance section and clicking on playbooks opens the playbook page. Clicking on the create new button opens the playbook creation popup.

In this case, we're looking to change the ownership of all assets owned by AMR, Polly, over to Dwayne.

So we put reassigned ownership, Amara to Dwayne in the name.

we click create in the playbook creation page loads for the title of the rule, we use the same name as the name for the playbook. As we are only creating a single rule, we then add our first filter. In this case, we're looking for all assets with the owner of AMR Polly. Since we do our ownership as a single individual, we add just a single filter with the attribute of [01:00] owner.

The operator of is one of and select AMR poly as the value, the matching assets update and we click on view all to quickly validate. Our filters are all set. Everything looks good. So our next step is to add the action. We add the action of owner in the operator of replace We are using replace as we only ever have a single owner on each asset. So this will actually remove our poly

And replace it with the owner. from the action.

Finally we had Dwayne as the value clicking next takes us to the scheduling screen. Since this is a one-time action to mass update. The ownership we click on the run once option. Clicking complete starts the process and will replace AMR Polly's ownership with Dwayne's with just a few filters, we have done a mass migration of the ownership. In Dwayne is now set to start owning these assets.
