## Data Quality Studio Permission Set Up

For Atlan’s Data Quality Studio, permissions are set at the Persona level. While all users have view access to see the success and failure status on data quality checks from the Data Quality Studio as long as during setup all users and personas were selected for visibility, in order to view the actual results of those rules, or to create new and edit existing rules, new or updated policies must be created.

Clicking on the governance icon on the left hand navigation and then persona takes us to the persona administration section, where we are able to create or update policies to include data quality permissions. In this case, our analyst persona needs to be updated to allow for editing data quality in Atlan.

Clicking on our existing analyst persona brings the persona window. Clicking on the policies tab displays all of the existing policies associated with this persona, which include Databricks, Snowflake, and Tableau. Our next step is to turn on Data Quality for the Databricks connection. We could do this in one of two ways. If our Data Quality permissions will be different than their metadata policies, such as if the analyst group should be able to edit the metadata for all assets, but only have the ability to create data quality rules on a specific schema, we could make a new metadata policy just to apply the data quality permissions. Alternatively, if they are allowed to create rules for all assets within their existing policy, we can edit the existing policy and add the new data quality permissions. We’ll move forward with this way by clicking on the existing data bricks policy. As we are only changing the permissions, we click 'Edit' in the 'Configure Permissions' section. Scrolling to the bottom, you will find the data quality section. If we only wanted to give them view access, which allows for those users to see the actual results of data quality rule runs, we would only select read, however since they should be able to create, update, and even delete, we click on the data quality checkbox, giving them all permissions. We click save, then we click update policy, and with that, we have given our analysts the ability to create, edit, read and delete data quality inside of Atlan.
