Policy Center Overview Page

[00:00] The policy overview page provides extensive information to administrators, specifically those who manage the policies in Atlan. Clicking on Governance and Policy Center takes us to the overview page. The action required section at the top gives us an immediate understanding of not only the coverage of our policies, but also the actions that should be taken.

At the left hand side is the open incidents showing the total number of still open incidents from the policies that are active. These should be immediate action items to check into the incidents and begin actioning on them. Clicking on it opens the incident side tab where we can see all of the open incidents and clicking into them gives us the details needed to action.

Back on the overview. The ungoverned assets gives us the total number of assets in our instance that are currently ungoverned or those without an active policy linked to them. While there is no action immediately required, this does allow us to quickly understand the state of our assets and where we can continue to [01:00] improve our governance. Finally, at the right is the policies to approve. This number represents the total number of policies that are currently ready to review.

This number changes based on who is logged in, so it will only show those that the user is actually set as an approver for giving us immediate insight into whether or not we personally have actions to take in reviewing any pending policies below.

This is the policy section. Here we immediately see our most recently viewed policies. Each can be clicked to go to that policy's overview page and clicking on the scroll arrow to the right will show policies viewed beyond the past four.

At the top are the filters for this listing. Selecting draft updates the listing to only show policies and draft status. As with other asset types, we can star policies to bookmark them and the star filter updates the listing to only show those that we have starred. If we wanted to view all policies, we can click on the see all button,

which updates the page to the all policies tab. Finally, at the bottom, we [02:00] get an understanding of all the policies as a whole, along with policies where we are the owner. On the left side, the at a Glance visual shows the total number of policies and statuses of active draft or deprecated, broken out by each status.

On top of that. Below we can quickly see the total number of policies in those statuses broken down by their policy type.

This helps us get a quick understanding of what policy types we have and which policy types we may be lacking on the right, in the My policy section, it shows all policies where we are the owner. Clicking on any of these takes us directly to the overview page of that policy. The Policy Center overview page is an amazing tool for quickly gaining a sense of your governance policies, landscape, and focusing on actions that require your attention.
