# Lineage: Viewing Lineage in the Atlan Chrome Extension

Transcript of the video at https://atlan.com/demos/view-lineage-in-sheets-integration/. Each heading is the time (mm:ss) that part starts.

## 00:00 — Viewing asset lineage from the Chrome extension sidebar

At the Atlan Chrome extension is a great way to get the metadata context around your assets without having to be an Atlanta. Giving you the context bright inside of your data sources. Additionally, you can get the lineage information about a dashboard or source asset from the sidebar without ever having to go into Atlan. Once you were logged into your source system and are looking at a supported asset type with the Atlan Chrome extension installed. Cliquey on the Atlan icon on the lower right-hand side of your browser will bring up the Atlan sidebar.

This is the exact same sidebar you see inside of Atlan containing all of the same metadata context. Clicking on the lineage tab will display all the assets that are one level away from the asset. You're currently viewing, giving you an immediate understanding of the directly dependent assets of your current one. Clicking on the icon allows you to customize the listing, allowing you to update the depth from just one to two to three levels, or even displaying every asset connected through lineage.

## 01:00 — Adjusting lineage depth and opening the full graph

You can switch to just upstream or downstream assets by clicking on the tabs directly above the listing of the assets, along with filtering on the asset types, or even searching for a specific asset in the asset listing, using the search bar. If you'd like to see the lineage in visual representation through the lineage graph, clicking the view graph link in the sidebar will open up a new tab. And display the lineage graph of the asset from the sidebar.
