Viewing lineage in the Atlan Sheets integration

[00:00] Getting what he needs from Atlan doesn't require that you go into Atlan.. is Atlan integrates with several different third-party tools. This gives you the bad data information you want in the sources you use on a daily basis. The Google sheets integration allows you to not only update metadata information about your columns and fields, but it also allows you to import the lineage of assets. Directly into Google sheets. Once you've installed the Google sheets integration and have opened a new Google sheet itself. Clicking on the extensions. Highlighting Atlan and then clicking on setup Atlan will bring up a pop-up for you to enter the Atlan URL. And turning in your Atlan URL and clicking on continue connects Google sheets to your Atlan instance, and a pop-up will appear allowing you to select whether you want to enrich metadata for columns or fields or import lineage. Clicking on import lineage brings up the asset search we're in [01:00] now you can search and find the asset that you're looking to import the lineage for. Once you found the asset that you're looking for, clicking the check box next to it, we'll select it for import. You have the ability to select what direction of lineage you want importing in the Google sheet. By clicking on the direction dropdown, you can select upstream, downstream. Or even bring in both. Clicking on the import button will start the import process. Once completed, you will have a listing of not only the assets connected to the source assets through lineage. But also key metadata information about those assets. The first few columns display information about your source asset.

The impact it asset whether upstream or downstream from your source asset is in the column labeled impacted asset, giving you a direct link to the profile of that impacted asset. All information to the right of the impacted asset column is based upon the impacted asset and it's [02:00] metadata. You can see aspects such as ownership, certification, status, and tax. Now there are two tags columns, one showing which tags are directly applied on the asset in the propagated tag field, showing any tags that were applied to other assets. But have been propagated either downstream or through hierarchy and have been attached to that impacted asset. Additionally, if you want the qualified name or gooey ID of the impacted asset for use in the API, these are also listed.

If when selecting direction, the option of both was selected. You can reference the direction column to know whether the impacted asset is upstream or downstream of the source asset.
