> Atlan is hosting Context Conference, bringing together the leaders and builders at the frontier of giving AI the context it needs to understand their business. It runs online on October 28, 2026, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM ET. Atlan co-founder Prukalpa Sankar opens and closes the day. Leaders from AstraZeneca, BNY and Verizon share why they invest in context and what they get from it. Registrants get early access to The AI Context Gap, a new study from MIT Technology Review Insights. Register: https://atlan.com/context-conference/

Atlan's culture primer, from the careers section: the three convictions and ten ways of working that describe what it means to be an Atlanian. "We are building Atlan to be an iconic and enduring company." Not a feature, not a category winner, but a company that humans and AI look to and say: this changed how we work, what we could do, and who we became while doing it. That ambition shapes the problems Atlan takes on, the standards it holds, the speed it moves at and the people it builds with. The single greatest driver of what Atlan becomes is who its people are. Culture isn't a benefit; it's core to the strategy.

## Three convictions

1. **Only the best, working together.** We are unreasonable about talent. Not because we're elitist, but because the mission demands it. A single exceptional person who cares deeply creates more than a team of good ones who don't. We hold the bar high, invest in each other relentlessly, and never confuse being kind with being accountable.
2. **Discomfort is the job.** The work will regularly exceed your comfort zone. We are building something that has never been built before, in a market moving faster than anyone can fully map. We don't apologize for that. The people who thrive at Atlan find genuine energy in hard problems.
3. **We are never the finished version of ourselves.** Atlan today is not Atlan at its best. Neither are any of us. That is an orientation, not a criticism: a commitment to always ask what better looks like and then go prove it's possible.

These convictions are grounded in Atlan's [values](https://atlan.com/careers/#values), the core beliefs that are "Atlan's constitution": the things we would defend, not just display on a wall. This primer translates those values into daily behavior as ten ways of working, patterns observed in the people who have built something remarkable here rather than rules handed down.

## Ten ways of working

### 01. Customer -> Company -> Team -> Me

The lens for real trade-offs. In a genuine conflict, solve for the customer first, then Atlan, then the team, then ourselves; long-term impact over short-term comfort.

- Tying goals to clear customer outcomes, not just internal metrics
- Choosing the option that helps multiple teams, not just our own
- Asking for help when blocked on something that really matters

Success is what moves customers and Atlan forward, not what is easiest for us.

### 02. Own it: the problem, the outcome, the company

Owners do not wait for someone else to fix things. Every Atlanian acts like an owner of the company: if you see a problem, you move it forward by naming it clearly, sharing context, proposing a next step, or pulling the right people into the room.

- Joining a stuck discussion to summarise, recommend and close the loop
- Giving direct, respectful feedback that improves someone else's work
- Caring about outcomes beyond your official scope

If the outcome was not achieved, we all own the opportunity to do better next time.

### 03. Care is our competitive advantage

An AI-native company whose human advantage is care, with customers and with each other.

- Showing up for difficult calls and messy problems, not just the easy wins
- Starting with the person, then the task
- Giving frequent, specific feedback because we want each other to grow
- Looking after our own energy and health so our care is real, not burnt out or performative

If you naturally lean in, notice details, and care "too much", you will feel at home here.

### 04. Move fast. Ship small. Close the loop.

One Atlan year feels like several anywhere else; speed is a strategy. Ship in small, useful increments, favour clear decisions over long unresolved threads, start from real problems and adjust quickly.

- Experiments and iterations shipping weekly, not just big launches
- Teams asking "what did we ship and what did we learn" every cycle
- People closing loops instead of letting things drift

Velocity means moving fast in the right direction, not chasing chaos.

### 05. Make excellence a rhythm

Excellence is the daily baseline, not a quarterly push. "Giving 120 percent" in practice means:

- Solving for outcomes that genuinely change things for customers
- Reviewing and improving our own systems, not just repeating them
- Digging into root causes instead of fighting the same fires again and again

Thoughtful judgment and elegant solutions are celebrated more than raw hours worked.

### 06. Be straightforward

Say things plainly and directly. Take confusion, conflict or critique to the person who can change it. No gossip, no managing optics, no different versions of the truth for different rooms.

- Giving honest feedback, delivered with respect
- Naming gaps early instead of letting them become surprises
- Choosing clarity over looking good

That keeps trust high and drama low.

### 07. Make hard calls with clarity and urgency

Care deeply about people, and do not let hard calls linger.

- Set clear standards so expectations are obvious, not hidden
- Say no to hires who do not raise the bar, even when capacity is tight
- Move quickly and respectfully when someone is in the wrong role
- Expect an active yes to growth, new feedback and new levels of ownership

Choose the honest conversation over the comfortable one.

### 08. Stay close to the work and to customers

Everyone at Atlan picks up the broom: taking notes, sending follow-ups, cleaning up docs or decks, sometimes literal clean-up after a long day together. These are acts of care.

- Being in the trenches when it matters, regardless of title
- Going deep on problems to understand the real "why" behind the ask
- Acting as an unblocker, not a distant commentator

"No one is too senior for this" is how Atlan operates, not a slogan.

### 09. Be a builder

Whatever your discipline, you are expected to be a builder.

- Owning problems end to end, not just your task
- Prototyping, iterating and sharing work in progress
- Asking how AI and automation can help, and trying it
- Treating our own product as a playground for new workflows and ideas

Better to ship something small that teaches us what to do next than polish something that arrives too late.

### 10. Choose optimism, then go prove it right

Optimism is a choice and a responsibility: believe Atlan can solve big, hard problems, then work to make that true. Hard questions and sharp critique are welcome; sitting on the sidelines saying "this will never work" without lifting a finger is not.

- When you see a gap, a fuzzy situation or a problem with no clear owner, the Atlanian move is: if not me, who. If not now, when.

That is not anxiety. It is confidence that together we can figure it out.
