About this demo

This resource outlines proven ways to improve search relevance and browsing in Atlan so people can find trusted data faster. It starts with enrichment tactics that boost ranking and precision: write clear, business-friendly descriptions and ReadMes (so keywords match how users search), link business terms/metrics to assets, and use certificates to signal trust—Verified items are prioritized while Deprecated are pushed down (pages 4–7). A simple “good/better/best” checklist shows what to include for a Verified asset (description, column definitions, owners, multiple terms, resources, ReadMe, saved queries) to earn that green check (page 8).

Personalization is another accelerator: define personas and purposes so users see assets most relevant to their role when they search (page 9). This helps cut through noise and tailors discovery to data engineers, analysts, and business users.

Beyond search, the deck shows how to make navigation intuitive with filters your teams actually use. Organize and browse via linked glossary terms (page 11), propagate tags/classifications across lineage and hierarchy for domain and sensitivity filtering (page 12), expose meaningful custom metadata as faceted filters (e.g., quality rules or pipeline status) (page 13), and capture ownership to filter by responsible teams or people (page 14). Together, these patterns create a consistent, self-service experience that blends relevance, trust, and clarity.
