Prukalpa Sankar

Prukalpa Sankar is the co-founder and co-CEO of Atlan, the data and AI governance platform that helps enterprises manage and govern their data and AI products. Atlan is trusted by data teams at companies like Fox, HubSpot, Medtronic, HelloFresh, and Autodesk, and has been named a Visionary in the Gartner Magic Quadrant and a Leader in the Forrester Wave.

She has spent over a decade building at the intersection of data and AI. In 2012, while classmates at university, Prukalpa and Varun Banka founded SocialCops, a 'data for good' company that used data to drive social impact — working with the United Nations, the Gates Foundation, and the Government of India on projects ranging from public health to urban planning. SocialCops was recognized by the World Economic Forum and The New York Times.

Atlan grew out of SocialCops: the internal tooling the team built to find, trust, and collaborate around their own data became a product in its own right. That origin — solving the chaos of a real data team before building a solution for everyone else — still shapes how Prukalpa writes and speaks about the work.

She is the founder of the Context and Chaos newsletter (formerly Metadata Weekly), where she and other practitioners share what actually works in the trenches of data and AI. A Forbes 30 Under 30, Fortune 40 Under 40, TED speaker, and Economic Times Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year, Prukalpa holds a B.Eng from Nanyang Technological University.
