About this Opportunity

We are looking for a highly skilled Platform Engineer with a strong focus on cost optimization to join our team. As a Platform Engineer, you will take ownership of platform-first projects to drive scalability, reliability, and re-usable components for our technology platform, with a key emphasis on cost management. You will design, build, scale, and maintain the infrastructure that supports our cutting-edge technology while ensuring cost-effectiveness and efficient resource utilization.

What will you do?

Lead platform-first projects with a specific focus on driving cost optimization, implementing cost-effective solutions, and reducing operational expenses.
Design and build cost reporting mechanisms for CXOs to provide real-time insights into platform costs, allowing for informed decision-making.
Collaborate closely with development teams to ensure that our platform is not only scalable, reliable, and secure but also cost-efficient.
Utilize your expertise in cloud infrastructure, especially in AWS, Azure, or GCP, to develop and maintain distributed systems using cloud services like AWS Quicksight, AWS/Azure Metering, OpenCost, and Kubecost.
Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting systems to ensure platform availability, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
Continually evaluate and recommend improvements to our platform infrastructure and processes, with a focus on cost savings and resource optimization.

What makes you a match?

Proven experience in software development and engineering, with a demonstrated ability to design and build large-scale distributed systems.
Strong proficiency in at least one programming language commonly used for building distributed systems, such as Java, Python, or Golang.
Extensive experience with cloud infrastructure platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP, and a track record of implementing cost-saving strategies within cloud environments.
Hands-on experience with cost optimization tools and technologies, including Savings Plan, Karpenter, and Graviton.
Familiarity with container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes and experience with CI/CD pipelines.
Knowledge of Agile development methodologies is highly desirable, enabling you to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to share technical achievements and impact effectively.
A passion for technology and a strong desire to continuously learn and enhance your skills.
