Carry out these steps whenever there’s any change in the metadata.
- Stream changes to a separate store, treating the metadata like data.
- Keep a history of the metadata in the separate store for analytical purposes.
- Create reports across various dimensions.
A CDO could use these reports to understand how well different areas of the business are adopting data practices — for example, which business units are using data the most, which are creating the most data products, which are not compliant with governance requirements, and so on.
With a time dimension, trend analysis can also be done against each of these to measure improvements over time.
